So this is Christmas
...

So this is Christmas

And what have I done?

Another year over

And a new almost begun

And so this is Christmas

I have had some fun

The easy and the tricky ones

Some goals still left undone

A very merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fears

And so this is Christmas

It's time to complete
Some more off my 1001

The list is still long

Well, it's been almost 4 months since my last post.  Not too much to tick off though unfortunately!  SLACK!

89. Thanks to my new job I have learnt lots of new and weird words that I didn't know which has helped to bump up my vocab list … approx. 10 to go I think (lost count somewhere along the line!)

In the past 4 months I have managed to knock a few goals off though:
7. Digi scrap every day for a month - I missed a few days but made them up in the month after.  I got all of my 2012 photos into the photo book, just a little journaling to go - hopefully ail get this down over the break and my 2013 book almost complete also before I head back to work in January.  Will be so nice to be up to date again!

19. I haven't counted each of my random acts of kindness but I try to make sure that I do perform one whenever I can - so it must have been once a month.  I know I completed one today so … that's my year done :)

39. We had a Halloween Party for Q and his friends back in October.  Too cute. They loved dressing up.  Was super simple but a nice afternoon.

53. Postcrossing is great. I have received close to 30 postcards since I started mailing … and will keep going as it is so interesting to find out about other parts of the world.

96. Well, we built a snowman (a fairly feeble attempt) but it was a snowman - hopefully next winter it will be a much cooler one!

So still lots to go … one more husband date, 7 more books, lots of exercise and a variety of other things still to go in 2014!  Here's to another 344 till my 1001 is complete and I can start to kick butt on another list!

76% there with 472 days to go!

Just a quick update today... I will upload pics in the next update :)

I have managed to tick a few things off over the last month or so, and also changed a couple of things due to change in circumstance.  As I am not teaching Aerobics anymore I have switched out a couple of the goals directly related to that ... but they are still pretty trick ones to achieve.

I have joined Postcrossing and already sent my first 5 postcards off (most I could send as a new member).  These are still travelling but hopefully they will reach their destinations this week and be registered so I will then start to receive 5 postcards from around the world, then I can send more and hopefully get at least 10 back over the next 472 days.  I thought this would be a great one as Q is fascinated with the globe and where different places are in the world so by people writing something about their city they live in it will allow him (and I) to learn a little more about a bunch of amazing places. So far my postcards have gone to the USA, China, Germany, Russia & the Netherlands.

I counted up my digi-printables I have designed - and it turns out I had already done more than 25! yay! another thing completed on my list.

My Smash Book (for my letter in 10 years) is underway as of this month too.  These are the coolest books and I am loving filling it up.  I will keep filling it over the next month and then wrap it and tuck it away to open again on my birthday in 10 years time.

I have a few things currently in progress... I have marked these in blue...

Wake Up. Kick A%#. Repeat.

We had an amazing time away and it was so nice to be able to relax for a few days.  I even managed to tick a few things off my list!

2. Before we left I finished Foetal Attraction (Kathy Lette) {9/20} and was pretty glad I overpacked on books as I ended up reading a little more than I had expected!  A week before we left I saw Kathy Lette had put out a new novel so I grabbed that off Book Depositary ... luckily it arrived the day before we left yay!

While on the cruise I read Mad Cows (Kathy Lette), Boy (Roald Dahl) - I found this really interesting as it was the story of his younger years at boarding school, The Boy who Fell to Earth (Kathy Lette) - this was an interesting book as it was quite different to her other novels, then I decided to tackle iCon (Jeffery S. Young & William L. Simon) - this was interesting as I have had it sitting on my bookshelf since 2008 and Steve Jobs died since the writing of it.  iCon is the story of Steve Jobs, Apple, NeXT, PIXAR and how everything happened.  I am looking forward to finishing Walter Isaacson's book Steve Jobs to see the similarities ... but I will read another chicklit first I think!  At least the pile beside my bed is dwindling {13/20}

5. We went out to see another movie in Gold Class ... Fast & Furious 6 ... seems to be a theme here on all our dates - they all seem to be action boy movies??? hmmm might have to find something painfully girly for the next one he he he {9/12}

24. I have now been to Noumea, Vila, Lifou and Mare, Noumea and Vila are both capital cities so another thing ticked off my 101 list.  I really don't think that Noumea is somewhere I will be hurrying back to ... Vila however I would go tomorrow.  The people are just as beautiful as the scenery.  I am so glad we had the opportunity to show Quinn the islands as it is so different to the way we live and it has really given him a greater appreciation of the luxuries that he has. Visiting a preschool in Vanuatu was a highlight for me, as was the Blue Lagoon!

35. I have kicked off the exercise 3x a week today ... fingers crossed it makes it past the first month this time around without injuries!  ... come end of September and I should have kicked this ones butt ... and hopefully #58 while i'm at it ... although that would mean eating a little less chocolate ... hmmm?

Coming into Noumea
Leaving Noumea
84. I saw most sunrises and sunsets whilst on the cruise but of course Murphy's Law paid me a visit on the day I decided to take photos ... what would be more beautiful than seeing the sun rise over the reef as we sailed into Noumea I figured.  Well the sun did rise ... just behind a bunch of clouds!  The sunset ... not so spectacular either unfortunately.

BUT... I did manage to get some amazing shots as we left Lifou as that sunset was amazing...

97. I also went two days without any email/phone/facebook! It was actually easier than I expected ... although I was pretty happy to be able to check my email again!

101.  Well I have made a start on the next list ... I still have 518 days until 27 November 2014 but I figured I better write things down as I think of them.

Still a few things to tick off this month but they are manageable!

2. Read 20 books that are not for uni - this will be a welcome change to a text book! {13/20 @ June 13}

Change is in the air...

It's amazing how quickly the year is flying by ... June... already?  seriously? wow... only 205 days till Christmas.

I have been super busy of late but a break is coming ... by the name of the Pacific Pearl.  I am so looking forward to 9 nights of fun, time with my boys, and no internet!  I will probably go crazy not checking my emails and social media after 1 night, but it will be good (I may just need to repeat that over to myself a few more times).

So in 12 sleeps we will be bound for Vila, Mare, Lifou and Noumea.  Lets hope Quinn loves kids club!

I have been making progress on my list ... even managing to squeeze some reading time in ... yay for the Japan shop that sells LED lights which clip onto your book!

At 542 days to go I have ticked off...
2. 20 books (8.5 down) ... So I must admit the 3 books I initially read may have been the Grey's books, but since then I have read a few more that I can recommend...
The Last Lecture - Randy Pausch and Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart - Gordon Livingston, M.D. are two books I try to re-read each year ... it's amazing how much you forget, and how each time I read one of these books I always take away something.  If you haven't read them - check them out.

Being the Apple geek I am of course I had to read The Apple Experience - Carmin Gallo.  It's all about building insanely great customer loyalty.  After three 'intellectual' reads I went back to read the new PostSecret book by Frank Warren, and then the tried and true author Kathy Lette with Nip & Tuck.  I'm already half way through another Kathy Lette book which means the next book off the rank will probably be something a little more 'substantial' like Steve Jobs or iCon.

Hopefully I will be able to relax poolside and do some reading on the cruise so I will be at least halfway through the 20 books come the end of June.

5. After such a great Gold Class experience last time (nothing to do with the amazing Ferrero Rocher sundaes of course) we went out to see Iron Man ... it was a great movie with enough action for the boys and comedy and lovey dovvey stuff for the chicks.  Might have to get that one when it comes out on iTunes.

24. I will be ticking this one off in the next few weeks - when we visit Vila, Mare, Lifou and Noumea - don't know they are actually 'cities' but they are all new places to me :)

47. Take a mini break twice in 12 months {April 2012, May 2013}
Although a few days out this one is getting the tick as we also had a holiday in July/August last year and are away again in June this year.  We headed down to a VERY cold Queenstown for a few days to celebrate Quinn's 4th birthday at the beginning of May.  He had a great surprise when we told him we were getting on the plane.

Still, there's lots do do ... I am aiming for the blue items to be completed by the end of June ... time for some BIG decisions and to get my A-into-G on others...

2. Read 20 books that are not for uni - this will be a welcome change to a text book! {8/20 @ June 13}

Slowly wins the race...

I haven't managed to tick lots off in the past month ... but I have still been trying to keep (somewhat) on track!

With 587 days to go I now have ....

2.  Read 20 books that are not for uni - this will be a welcome change to a text book! {5/20 @ April 2013}
I read two more books and, I am even half way through a 3rd so very soon I will only have 14 to go ... if I say it quickly it doesn't sound as bad!  I do have a bit of a pile by my bed waiting for me to get around to reading them... so choosing shouldn't be hard!

5. Go on 12 dates with my hubby {7/12 @ April 13}
Went on another two dates with hubby.  The first one we went to the Beer Fest which was great, but made me feel old! We did discover a love for Rekorderling though ... mmmmm, and got to sample food from the Food Truck!  The second, we went out to see GI Joe at the movies, we went to Gold Class... their sundaes for dessert are SO good... I had the Ferrero Rocher one YUM!

23. Create 12 new aerobics routines to teach {2/12: May-12, Dec-12, Mar-13}
I re-choreographed a routine from an old piece of music I used to teach to so counting that!  I am going to aim to have another 3 new tracks over the next month ... still along way to go though!

26. Graduate University (again!) {Completed uni December 2012, Graduated April 17, 2013}
Yay - Jo & Graduated Uni this week!  Was a great day ... and neither of us tripped walking across the stage!

31. Send a hand made, hand written card to 5 of my friends {Apr13}
I have had these cards sitting on my desk for so long I now have no idea where they are!!! Oops... this is on my list to do this weekend ... hopefully I can find them, otherwise I will be remaking and sending them!

60. Get a MoleMap/MoleSnap {April 2013}
Booked in for a MoleSnap this month so its getting crossed off on this post in anticipation :)

64. Eat at 7 new restaurants {March 2013}
This one was ticked off after the beer festival.  We went out to dinner at big little grill in Elliot Stables ... it was really good.  I love eating here as there is so much variety with all the different places.

88. Send a secret to PostSecret {December 2012}
I had already ticked this off but... I was lucky enough to go to see Frank Warren talk about PostSecret when he came to NZ this month.  To make the event even better ... I received a copy of his latest book which he had written in, although I did have to read his message in front of everyone at the event!

I am looking forward to getting my hands on more of his books.

93. Attend a film festival movie {25 April 2013}
Jo and I are off to see The Queen of Versailles at the 2013 NZ International Film Festival Autumn Event next Thursday.  It is said to be “A succulently entertaining movie that invites you to splash around in the dreams and follies of folks so rich they're the one percent of the one percent.” — Owen Gleiberman,Entertainment Weekly.  We figured it would be one of the easier festival films to watch!

So once I have finished ticking off this months items I will only have 33 things to go ... of which, at least all the ones in Blue will be ticked off by the end of June, leaving me only 26 things left to plan.

2. Read 20 books that are not for uni - this will be a welcome change to a text book! {3/20 @ September 2012}

634

Time since my post in January has flown by!  Luckily have been able to tick a few more things off my goal list.

I worked hard to try and scrap each day in January but then realised I was going away for work for 3 days so there was no way I could keep up the pace at that time ... and then kinda gave up ... BUT at least I am up to January 2012 in my scrapbooking now!  So in that whole month I should be able to make a good dent in 2012 and may even come close to getting up to date!  (one can hope... think it is called wishful thinking though!)  Might leave that one for July though as I am away for a few days every month until then.

[#14] Volunteer my time for a charity - DONE!
We are fostering kittens at the moment as the SPCA had an influx and needed to send some out until they had space.  They are pretty cute ... even if they are totally nuts!  Although it is nice knowing that we are able to give them back!

[#28] Bake something new every week for 2 months - DONE!

Lots of yummy treats and "firsts" ... After the run of delicious pies I decided to tackle some other things I had always wanted to try... I made berry soufflés, blueberry meringue tart (first time ever making any meringue), pecan & chocolate chunk pie, orange curd slice, choclate fudge, apricot flan and macaroons!

[#29] Keep my toenails painted nicely for six months - DONE!
I have surpassed the 6 month mark and have managed to maintain pretty toenails now for 7mths! Crazy... And I still have another pedicure to go before the end of March so it looks like they might end up being nicely polished and scrubbed for 8mths.

[#31] Send a hand made, hand written card to 5 of my friends - HALF DONE!
I have made the 5 cards for 5 friends... Now I just need to write in them and send them off/give them out.

[#40] Vacuum out my car 4 times in a year! - ALMOST DONE!
 My car is booked for a spruce up in the next week!  yay ... pretty clean car again soon... at least it gives me a jump start on my next post!

[#42] Host a freezer foods party - DONE!
 I changed this one slightly from having a freezer food party to cooking a bunch of freezer foods for the following month with a friend. Like our own little party and we had heaps of yummy dinners ready to reheat. All these meals have come in super handy on busy nights.

[#46]  Drink 2l of water a day for 28 days - DONE!
Wow this was tricky. Some nights I realised at 11pm I hadn't had enough water so was downing a litre before bed... Not ideal for an interrupted nights sleep ;) but got there in the end... Although from now on I think I will aim for a litre with 2 being a bonus!

[#64] Eat at 7 new restaurants
Stephen and I went on a date [#5] and went to Mexico in Takapuna. A pretty cool place actually and I am looking forward to taking Quinn. I think we will skip dessert next time tho and go for ice cream. The service was so fast, it was great.

We went with friends to try Sal's pizza, Takapuna. Huge American pizza slices and few, but delicious toppings mmmmm ... Another place to hit up again.

Stephen & I also went out to Burger Wisconsin (not really restaurant but a new place ... and they had a dining area!) on another date night [#5] before going to see The Offspring at Vector Arena [#20] (awesome concert and another double tick on the list)

So that's just 1 more new place to try... Shouldn't be too hard!

[#65] Create a menu plan for 1 month - DONE! I made a menu plan and we managed to stick with it for the month, a few meals got swapped here and there but it was great. So easy to come home and know exactly what we were having... And we have only doubled up on one of the meals (as it is Stephen's new favourite)... Moroccan chicken burgers.

[#73] Take a Dessert course - DONE!
What a breakfast... and lunch!  We made 3 desserts in just under 3 hours ... and they were delicious!

*Lemon & yoghurt Mousse with Melon Basil Compote
*Poached seasonal fruit with Almond crumble and creme patisserie
* Rich dark chocolate cherry fondant with caramelised nuts and Tulle
YUM!!!  Don't think I will ever make all 3 at once again though - so rich!  1 would be enough.

[# 78] Have 12 Girls Nights out - DONE!
I have managed to tick off my chick nights... Although that wont be stopping me escaping for more!

Spent a night at Silo Park with my buddy Jo where we tried something else new - escargot ... I really shouldn't have inspected the snail before eating it, but with that much butter smothering it - it was always going to taste pretty good!

I saw Les Misérables at the movies... I was expecting to need bundles of tissues so it was nice not to, although it was a pretty emotive movie.

Time for a recap...

So, I have managed to tick a bunch of things off my 1001 days goal list and it feels GREAT!

Since my last post in December I have managed to tick more goals off my list -
12. Buy a new DSLR camera
13. Take a photography course to learn how to use the new DSLR!

Last weekend I took a photography course which was fantastic and I even managed to take a couple of cool pics ... of course Quinn wanted to pose for me when I got home with all his silly faces too!  Only downside to a day of taking photos in the sun is that I am as red as a lobster!

41. Complete Quinn's 3rd 2010 photo book
86. Go on a picnic- although I probably did pick the worst weather for this as it was so windy our dinner also included a nice serving of sand!
94. Go rock climbing - this was fun although we will have to go again when Quinn is a little bigger as he was not a fan of the harness.

I am working on the following goals this month:
7. Digi scrap daily for one month
28. Bake something new every week for 2 months - so far I have made Pumpkin Pie & Apple Pie... next week Pecan and Chocolate Chunk Pie (never baked a pie before until now so want to get all my "must try pie's" done!)
29. Keep my toenails painted nicely for six months
46. Drink 2l of water a day for 28 days (it supposedly takes 28 days to form a habit!)... 7 days and counting!
